Fall is here and the Color has been Spectacular!
🍁 As the spectacular fall colors paint New England in brilliant shades of gold, crimson, burnt orange, and deep burgundy, it’s hard not to feel inspired! These gorgeous autumn hues are the perfect palette to carry into our quilting season, whether you’re choosing fabrics for a new project, experimenting with color combinations, or finally starting that quilt you’ve been dreaming about. Just like the changing leaves, every fabric brings its own beauty and personality to a design. So, as we head into cozy days filled with creativity and stitching, let’s bring a little of New England’s autumn magic into our quilts! 🧵🍂
What a wonderful year 2026 has been! I’ve been fortunate to spend much of the year traveling, teaching, and sharing my love of quilting—from cruising the Eastern Caribbean to presenting at AQS QuiltWeek in Paducah, Kentucky.
I’ll wrap up the year with “Curves Ahead,” a four-night quilting retreat at The Strong House Inn in Vergennes, Vermont, November 4–8. I’m looking forward to this special time together!

My Design Wall
FRIENDS
Inspired by the timeless Friendship Block and my favorite trim-down tool, the Tucker Trimmer™ by Studio 180 Design, this quilt celebrates the colorful memories and lasting friendships we create over the years. The blocks feature the Shaded Four Patch Unit and are brought together with pieced sashing, creating a design that is as meaningful as it is beautiful. Each block represents a little piece of the fun, laughter, and cherished moments shared with friends through the years.
This design features “Shalimar,” Island Batik’s Fall 2026 fabric collection, designed for Tina Dillard of Quilting Affection. The pattern will be released in January 2027, with fabrics expected to arrive in quilt shops beginning in March 2027. Stay tuned for more details.
FRAMED IN
Inspired by a Studio 180 Design BlockBuster Challenge in October 2024, this design began with BlockBuster #17, Salem Star. The challenge was to use our knowledge of Deb Tucker’s trim-down tools and techniques to create an original variation. Featuring the Corner Pop™ Tool, this quilt grew from the block I designed during the challenge, evolving into a fresh new design.
The quilt showcases Island Batik Foundations, a versatile collection of basics that is stocked and available in quilt shops year-round. This design will be featured in Island Batik’s Bounty of Basics 2027 catalog, debuting in January 2027, with the pattern also releasing in January 2027.
